Welcome!
Your search for information about acne- the causes
and the solutions and acne generally is
successful!
Acne is a condition that
affects most everyone at one time or another in his
or her lives. It is mostly a problem of the
sebaceous gland (glands in the skin that secrete an
oily substance) on the face, the neck and the back.
When the sebaceous glands become blocked by the
oily substance they create, the accumulation
creates pimples.
There are many forms of
acne, but the most common is acne vulgaris,
occurring mostly during adolescence years. Acne
does not have a known exact cause but factors that
contribute to this condition include heredity, oily
skin and hormones such as androgens. Additional
factors might be allergies, stress, the use of
certain drugs, nutritional deficiencies, liver
dysfunction, poor hygiene, exposure to pollutants,
cosmetics and the monthly menstrual cycle.
Acne can also be created
when the skin does not properly eliminate portions
of its toxic waste by sweating. In fact, if the
body contains more toxins than the kidneys or liver
can effectively discharge, the skin takes over.
Some doctors call the skin the 3rd kidney. As
toxins are trying to escape through the skin, they
can disrupt the health and integrity of the skin,
creating pimples and build-ups.
Recommendations
to control and diminish face and body
acne:
People have to know that
some of the following recommendations may take 2-4
weeks before any results or improvements are
seen.
One recommendation is to keep the skin always clean
and free of oily residues. Gently cleaning the face
and body with a good quality soap especially
designed to prevent acne is a good start. Sweating
is the body's way of cooling itself down. During
the process of sweating though, some skin pores can
get blocked and accumulation of oily residues and
dirt can result in problems. A very good habit is
too always wash one's face and body after important
sweating.
Acne can also be helped by
applying distilled white vinegar (which can be
diluted if too strong) to the face and affected
areas. Allow this to sit for 5-10 minutes before
rinsing off with cool water. Lemon or any citric
fruit work great as a natural exfoliate, removing
dead skin cells that may clog the skin pours. As
with the white vinegar, applying the juice of a
lemon (or desired citric juice) to the face and
then allowing it to dry for about 10 minutes can
greatly help. The next step is to rinse with cool
water. The person using this technique might feel a
mild sting or burn when the lemon juice is applied.
If so, diluting the juice is the
solution.
Face and body acne can be
greatly helped if the person suffering from such a
condition drinks her recommended eight to ten
glasses of fresh water per day. The water helps
clean the toxins out and help transport nutrients
in the body.
Acne can also greatly be
helped by a proper and healthy diet. Avoiding food
rich in rich and refined products will greatly help
the skin to look its best. Take a quality multiple
vitamin and mineral supplement will ensure the skin
gets all its required nutrients. Some studies have
shown that Echinacea or Oregon grape may be used to
boost the immune system and fight acne-causing
bacteria. On the other hand, Dandelion, Burdock or
red clover are said to help to keep the liver clear
of toxic overload.
Historically, large
quantities of vitamin A have been successfully used
to treat severe acne. Large amounts, however, can
be toxic and should be used under close medical
supervision. Some studies have suggested that
adding additional zinc to oneís diet may
help their acne condition. Zinc helps in the
healing of tissues and assists in preventing
scarring. Zinc would also be important for the body
in resisting infection and inflammation.
Again, such treatment
options like Zinc should only be undertaken with
the proper medical supervision. Some acne sufferers
have reported good results by using a homeopathic
acne remedy. Further studies are required to
conclude in their efficiency for acne.
